DUBOIS – The Sandy Township Supervisors approved adjusting some of its previously allocated Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding at Monday night’s meeting.
The township had allocated funding for the elimination of blight. However, the supervisors will now use $50,455 toward the Denton Avenue waterline, storm, sewer and paving project. Additionally, the supervisors reallocated $11,058.34 from the Merris Avenue waterline toward the same project.
Township Manager Dick Castonguay also reported that the township had reached a settlement with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) about DuBois City’s move toward raising water rates. Castonguay stated further progress would be made heading into October.
The supervisors also approved the purchase of a skid loader through a state contract. Castonguay stated that the township has borrowed one a few times this year. With additional equipment, the cost, he stated, will come to $80,290.08. Since it is being purchased through the state, Castonguay indicated that there isn’t any bid requirement.
The township will begin efforts to clear out the brush along Pentz Run. The township will be able to remove debris from the water; however, it will not be permitted to alter the channel. Any work on railroad property will require hiring an inspector, stated Castonguay.
