CLEARFIELD – PennDOT will team up with the Clearfield Borough Police Department at the Clearfield County Community Expo. The two entities will provide information and interaction tomorrow from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. in Expo II Building at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds.
The expo is in its second year and offers members of the community an opportunity to learn about resources available in Clearfield County.
Those who visit the booth will have the opportunity to play Distract-A-Match. The shape- and color-matching game shows how distractions can inhibit a person’s ability to complete a simple game. Participants are able to see that adding variables to a more complex task, such as driving, can have wider effects.
Impairment goggles will also be available for participants to learn how vision is affected by alcohol.
According to PennDOT data, in 2012, 101 alcohol-related accidents were reported in Clearfield County. Seven people were killed in those accidents. Ninety distracted-driving accidents were investigated by police in Clearfield County last year.
