Thelma E. Michaels, 96, of Clearfield, entered into God’s eternal care, Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Michaels was born Nov. 18, 1916 in Surveyor, the daughter of John and Gussie (Wilson) Bain. She was a homemaker
Mrs. Michaels was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Clearfield.
She is survived by three children, David L. Michaels and his wife, Joyce and Judith L. Shaw and her husband, Hugh, both of Clearfield and Nancy L. Hutchings and her husband, Richard of State College.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Lori Beth Michaels of Enola; David L. Michaels II and his wife, Janice of Dillsburg; Douglas Michaels, Cheryl Hirschbeck and her husband, William and Lonnie Bell and her husband, Daniel, all of Clearfield; Sherri Wellar and her husband, Rodney of Julian; Suzi Spicer and her husband, Rick and Sandi Schindler and her husband, Kenneth, both of State College; Michael Hutchings of Newville; Shelli Corl and her husband, Ryan of York; Randy Shaw and Stacy of Mechanicsburg; and Eric Shaw and his wife, Tracy of Exton; 25 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandsons and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Michaels was the last member of her generation. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph W. Michaels, whom she married Nov. 20, 1939 and whom died July 14, 1997; two sisters, Althea Shaw and Ann Rizzuto; three brothers, Robert, William and Jack Bain; and two great-grandchildren, Brittany Spicer and Christopher Schindler.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Clearfield, with the Rev. Dr. Duane A. White officiating. Burial will be at Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of services Friday at the church.
