DUBOIS – Roadway improvement work is continuing on Route 255 near the Interstate 80 DuBois/101 interchange.
When work is complete in mid-October, a smoother roadway surface and new traffic signals at the I-80 ramps will provide area drivers with more efficient travel and improved traffic flow.
The week of Sept. 2 will feature the following activity:
- No work will take place Monday in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Long-term traffic controls will remain in place in this area.
- Starting Tuesday, the contractor will be patching along the project area. Motorists should expect delays as this operation takes place.
- The contractor will be working on drainage at various locations along Route 255. All three lanes will be flagged, with the center lane and one outside travel lane used for northbound and southbound traffic. No major travel delays are expected but short delays may be possible during times of high-volume traffic. Should drainage work progress to the two-lane areas of Route 255, traffic will be reduced to one lane of travel with flaggers in place.
- Starting on Thursday and continuing through Saturday, the contractor will be paving Route 255 to prepare the roadway for final paving on the entire length of the project area. Motorists should expect long traffic delays while the paving operation takes place.
PennDOT reminds drivers to remain alert and proceed through the work zone with caution. Normal work hours are 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Overall work on Route 255 will include milling and paving, bridge deck repair, cleaning and upgrading of pipe culverts and inlets, water-line extension, and installation of new traffic signals at the I-80 ramps.
All work is weather and schedule dependent. New Enterprise Stone and Lime Inc. is the contractor on this $3.4 million project.
