Dewey L. Heichel, 80, of Pottersdale died Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
He was born Feb. 1, 1933, the son of the late John and Anna Gaines Heichel. He loved his family, and they were most important to him. He also loved his cats and miniature horses.
Mr. Heichel was a member of the Community Alliance Church, Karthaus. He belonged to the Huntingdon Horse Association and the Miniature Horse Association.
He was married to Shirley D. Samery Heichel on Sept. 27, 1985. She survives in Pottersdale.
Mr. Heichel is survived by two daughters, Elaine Davis and her husband, Rick of Lecontes Mills and Deb Wagner of Manchester; one son, Dewey Alan Heichel and his wife, Gina of Lecontes Mills; five grandchildren, Keith, Dalton and Dewey Heichel, Nikki London and Joey Davis; and one great-grandson, Gage Davis.
Also surviving are two sisters, Faith “Honey” Shepardson and her husband, Victor of Karthaus and Judy Leigey and her husband, Ron of Frenchville and one brother, Paul Heichel of Pottersdale.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Heichel was preceded in death by one sister, Letha Narehood and three brothers, John Jr., Larry and Clair Heichel.
There will not be any public visitation.
