RUSH TOWNSHIP – A 44-year-old Julian man, Mark L. Tice, was killed in an all-terrain vehicle accident on Saturday on Tram Road in Rush Township, according to the state police at Philipsburg.
The accident occurred on a dirt and gravel road in the Moshannon State Forest and approximately two miles north of state Route 504. Tice was traveling southbound on Tram Road and too fast while negotiating a slight, left-hand curve.
The ATV, state police said, began to break traction and traveled toward the edge of the roadway. The ATV traveled approximately 150 feet more and then struck a tree head-on at the edge of the roadway.
Upon impact Tice was thrown from the ATV and landed on the side of the roadway in front of the ATV. He was pronounced dead at the scene; the cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma, state police said.
