Clearfield Borough Hires Two Part-time Police Officers

CLEARFIELD – After a brief executive session, Clearfield Borough Council re-adjourned and approved the hire of Steve Russo and Jake Rhymestine as part-time borough police officers.

Council also approved to advertise for applications for borough police for a pool of possible candidates.

Council opened bids for heating fuel for the coming season from Nittany Oil, with a fixed rate of $3.304 per gallon, and from Satterlee & Sons with a fixed rate of $3.3745 per gallon. The bid was awarded to Nittany Oil.

Bids were opened for borough trash removal. The only bid received was from Advanced Disposal with a monthly rate of $405. Council approved to award the bid to Advanced Disposal.

Council passed Resolution 06-2013 approving the 2014 DUI grant with Nathan Curry as project director.

In other business, council approved:

– to have Ultimate Roofing fix the roof of the fire department per proposal for $3,000, up to $4,000, and to proceed on roof repair on the borough garage.

– to solicit pricing on tar and chipping.

– a AFSCME side agreement regarding a uniform allowance and apprentice operator.

– the payment of bills, including $1,540 for police department software upgrades and $1,016.50 for a new MIG welder.
