Dorothy S. ‘Dot’ Brown, 76 of Clearfield died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield. She was born Oct. 19, 1936 in Hyde, a daughter of the late Henry J. and Dorothy (Graham) Brown.
She graduated from Lock Haven University with a degree in physical education and then became employed as a physical education teacher in DuBois. For the next 42 years, she was a receptionist for Dr. Kempner, optometrist in Clearfield.
She was a member of the PA Paraoptometric Association, where she held various offices. She attended the Centre Grove United Methodist Church in Hyde. Â Â She will always be remembered for her love of dogs and being a die-hard Penn State Nittany Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
She is survived by her twin children, Erik Brown and his wife, Robin and Krista Miller and her husband, Edward, all of Clearfield; five grandchildren; three sisters and a brother, Mona Kassab, Kathleen Forcey, Sandra Fiorentino and Raymond Brown; and her dog, Phoebe.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Brown.
Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with the Rev. J. Robert Mellgard officiating. There will be no public visitation.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 275 21st St., Clearfield.
