John Polachko, 87, of Osceola Mills died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 at the Altoona Regional Medical Center in Altoona.
He was the son of the late John D. and Ellen (Cromie) Polachko born Sept. 23, 1925. He married Florence M. (Brocail) Polachko on June 29, 1954 in Winchester, VA. She preceded him in death on Nov. 11, 1994.
Mr. Polachko was of the Christian faith.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was member of the VFW Post 5020, the American Legion and the LOOMoose #154 in Osceola Mills.
He retired from CERRO in Bellefonte, as a machine operator and had worked for Don Brocail as a mason’s helper. He was a 1942 graduate of the former Osceola Mills High School.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann and Helen and five brothers, John, George, Pete Mike and Joe.
Mr. Polachko is survived by a daughter, Kim McCully and her husband, Robert of Ramey; a son, John A. Polachko of Osceola Mills; six grandchildren, Katie, Ashley and Erinn McCully and Angela, Mandy and John Polachko; and five great-grandchildren, Abigail, Emily, Jacob, Maeleigh and Ava.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday at his home, 706 Stone St., Osceola Mills. Military honors will be accorded by the Osceola Mills Honor Guard at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Umbria Cemetery in Osceola Mills.
Arrangements are under the direction of Heath Funeral Home in Osceola Mills.
