Detour will be in place
OSCEOLA MILLS – On behalf of Gov. Tom Corbett, PennDOT has announced that work to rehabilitate the truss bridge along the Centre/Clearfield County line in Osceola Mills will begin Aug. 6.
When the work is complete, PennDOT will be able to remove the bridge from its list of structurally deficient bridges and area drivers will enjoy safer travel on a bridge that will remain in service for many years to come.
The bridge is located along the Centre/Clearfield County line in Osceola Mills (Route 3049 in Centre County and Route 2051 in Clearfield County). Overall work includes structural steel repairs, painting, substructure repairs, latex deck overlay, paving of new approaches, and new curb and sidewalks.
The 113-foot bridge spans Moshannon Creek and carries about 1,000 vehicles each day. The truss was originally built in 1932.
There will be a detour in place during the time of the repairs. PennDOT’s official detour will direct drivers to use Routes 53, 2051 (Curtin Street), 350 (Tyrone Pike), and 3049 (Edendale Road). Drivers familiar with the area may use alternate routes to get around the work zone.
The contractor for this $1.2 million job is Francis J. Palo Construction Company of Clarion. Work is expected to finish by the end of October. All work is weather and schedule dependent. Drivers are reminded to follow detour signs, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
