Westbound lane closure starts tomorrow
STATE COLLEGE – Work to improve a section of Interstate 80 in Centre County is progressing, and the contractor on the project plans to begin micro-surfacing in the westbound lanes tomorrow (Wednesday). The work will extend the life of the pavement and provide updated guide rail along both directions of the highway.
Weather permitting crews will close the left (passing) lane of I-80 between mile-marker 170 to mile-marker 164 tomorrow. Crews will continue micro-surfacing work in the eastbound lanes from mile-marker 164 to mile-marker 170. Guiderail upgrades will also be made in the project area.
Drivers will encounter lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 45 miles per hour through the work zone.
PennDOT expects all work to be finished by mid-October. Suit-Kote Corp. of Tully, N.Y., is the contractor on this $1.6 million job.
Drivers are reminded to move through construction zones with caution, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
