IRVONA – A bicyclist sustained moderate injuries and was transported to the Altoona Hospital after being involved in a vehicle accident Friday on Rose Street in Irvona Borough, reported state police at Clearfield.
The bicyclist was traveling eastbound on Berwind Street, and the bicycle didn’t have working brakes. The bicyclist ran a stop sign at the intersection of Berwind and Rose streets, state police said.
At the time, Brad A. Dodson, 40, of Irvona was traveling north on Rose Street, which doesn’t have a stop sign. The bumper of the Dodson vehicle struck the right side of the bicycle. The bicyclist then collided with Dodson’s windshield, state police said.
The Dodson vehicle came to a final rest on the roadway, facing north on Rose Street. The bicycle came to a final rest on the sidewalk next to Rose Street approximately 15 feet from Dodson’s vehicle.
The bicyclist, state police said, violated Pennsylvania Vehicle Code by running the stop sign. Dodson didn’t commit any violations, and his vehicle was towed from the scene.
