CLEARFIELD – The Penn State Extension in Clearfield County received a generous donation to support Clearfield County’s Progressive Agriculture Safety Day. The donation, which totaled $170, was raised by the Clearfield Area Middle School teachers through their dress down fund.
The Progressive Agriculture Safety Day Program trains and provides the resources that local communities need to conduct one-day safety programs that are age-appropriate, hands-on, fun, and safe for children and families. Clearfield County is planning for their seventh annual Progressive Agriculture Safety Day to be held Sept. 11 at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds. More than 300 second grade students and teachers from Clearfield and Curwensville school districts are expected to be in attendance at this year’s program.
Since the first safety day in 2007, the program has provided hands-on, safety education in a variety of areas including bicycle and helmet safety, disability awareness, all-terrain vehicle/lawnmower safety, proper hand washing, bullying, traffic safety, tobaccos education animal safety, firearm safety, poison safety, Lyme Disease, energy awareness and electric safety. The donation will help support funding for the facility, lunch and supplies needed to host the program.
Penn State Extension in Clearfield County also received a $200 donation from the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Clearfield to support the Progressive Agriculture Safety Day Program. Additional donations for safety day are appreciated and can be sent to Penn State Extension, 511 Spruce St., Suite 4, Clearfield, PA 16830.
