Rodman Otto Eminhizer, 85, died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center. He was born April 16, 1928 in Julian to Pearl Muirhead but raised by his grandparents, Watson and Caroline Eminhizer.
Mr. Eminhizer enjoyed helping people getting started in life, including many local truck drivers. All of his life he was a serious truck driver at heart. At age 14, he started driving coal truck, which led to owning his own trucks and company. He also managed different truck stops.
He had many employees over the years, and he cared a lot about them. He was a stern man with a very big heart. He loved working in the transportation industry and also spending time with family and friends. He loved traveling to Canada for fishing and spending his winters in Florida with his wife to fish and golf.
Mr. Eminhizer was very dedicated to his wife, family and church. He was very active working for the St. Severins Roman Catholic Church and the many church picnics over the years. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Morrisdale, and the Philipsburg Elks Lodge No. 1173.
He’s survived by Helene Folmar Eminhizer, his loving wife of 67 years. They were married April 23, 1946. Surviving are their five children, Gloria Evans and her husband, Al of Texas and Mary Kay Sperfslage and her husband, Steve, Brent Eminhizer and his wife, Annie, Anita Eminhizer and Scott Eminhizer and his wife, Toni, all of Pennsylvania.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Robert, Lori, Randy, Rod, Jason Scott, Jodi Lynn, Michael, Jennifer, Jonathan, Corey and Chantel; 16 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Danielle, Ashley, Jarod, Lacey, Kody, Kodey, Brodcy, Christopher, Michael, Joshua, Jessica, Cameron, Gage, Neveah and Catrin; and one great-great-grandchild, Kadey.
He was preceded in death by his mother and grandparents, two brothers, Eugene and Fred Muirhead and one sister, Janet Kennedy.
Mr. Eminhizer is being laid to rest at the St. Severins Roman Catholic Cemetery, Drifting. Friends will be received from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. Sunday at the Johnson Funeral Home, Grassflat. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the St. Severins Roman Catholic Church, with the Father David A. Perry as celebrant.
