Ralph W. Maines, 87, of Woodland died Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the Clearfield Hospital. He was born July 18, 1926 in Bradford Township, a son of the late Earl and Velda (Kephart) Maines.
Mr. Maines was a self-employed logger and also a sawmill worker. He loved to hunt and was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, Woodland.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Maines served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie (Krise) Maines, whom he married July 2, 1948, having just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.
Surviving are three children, Mona Welker and her husband, Ernest, Martin Maines and his wife, Kim and Marvin Maines and his wife, Jean, all of Woodland; eight grandchildren, Roland Welker and his wife, Heather, Megan Francis and her husband, Matthew, Hugh Ross and his wife Lisa, Josh Maines, Garrett Maines, Kathy Duval, Heath Maines and Jenna Hudson and her husband, Dale; and two great-granddaughters, Myleigh and Maleah Hudson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lou Maines and two brothers, Mainard and Marshall Maines.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, with Pastor Sean Patrick Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home.
