Robert Eugene Stewart, 91, of Curwensville died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born Nov. 9, 1921 in Punxsutawney, he was the son of George and Mamie (Hoover) Stewart. Mr. Stewart was a truck driver and worked for Brown Brothers Trucking, C. Classic Dodge and Waroquier Coal Company.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Curwensville Presbyterian Church.
On March 14, 1954, he wed the former Mary Lou Coon, who survives along with four children, Andrew Lumadue and his wife, Vicki of Santa Rose, Calif., Ganelle Lumadue Dippe’ and her husband, Jerry of Sebastopol, Calif., Trudy Lee Stewart Ensminger and her husband, Bill of Curwensville and Della Rae Stewart Miller and her husband, Michael of Export.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Mansfield and John “Whitey” Stewart. He was the last member of his generation.
Funeral services for Mr. Stewart will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. Charles R. Taber Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received from 12:30 p.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
