Raymond W. Alker, 70, of Clearfield died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center – West.
He was born Jan. 26, 1943 in Philadelphia, a son of the late Warren and Barbara (Till) Alker.
While living in Philadelphia, he was employed with Schutte and Koerting in Trevose and also Super Fresh in Richboro. After moving to Clearfield, he worked for Martin’s Grocery in DuBois. He loved to umpire and worked for Metropolitan Sports Services.
He was an avid bowler in Philadelphia and Clearfield and recently was awarded the Allegheny Mountain USBC-BA, Dario Federici Sportsmanship Award. He also cherished the time he spent fishing with his grandchildren.
Another of his hobbies was Lionel Trains.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield and a social member of the Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. Smokehouse.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon S. (Thompson) Alker, whom he wed Oct. 16, 1965 in Philadelphia; five children, Raymond Alker Jr. and his wife, Shelly of Greensboro, NC, Kevin Alker and his wife, Tara and Melinda Klinewski and her husband, Robert, all of Philadelphia, Mandy Graham and her husband, Barry of Clearfield and Melissa Moore and her husband, Jess of Ginter; 13 grandchildren, Alexa Alker, Kyla Alker, Brianna Alker, Brandon Alker, Ashton Alker, Jayden Alker, Nicholas Klinewski, Lindsey Klinewski, Alec Graham, Olivia Graham, Jacob Moore, Carson Moore, Aiden Moore; a sister, Sandy Lynch and her husband, John of Langhorne; and his dog, Bella.
A memorial mass will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, 212 S. Front St., Clearfield, with Msgr. Henry L. Krebs as celebrant
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
