America’s Motorsports Park Upcoming Special Events

 

CLEARFIELD –America’s Motorsports Park owners Jeff and America Taylor have three amazing shows coming up within the next two weeks, beginning with this Wednesday night, July 3.

 

The 410 Sprint cars will invade the Clearfield, PA quarter mile for the first time ever on Wednesday as drivers from central and western Pennsylvania, Ohio and even some from New York have indicated they will be there for the big show that pays $3,000 to win and $300 to just make the field. Some of the best drivers to ever wheel a super sprint have said they will try and tame the bull ring. Exactly who makes the mid-week show will be anybody’s guess.

 

Joining the sprints are the Four Cylinders, paying $250 to win and the Street Stocks paying $500 to take the victory. The grand finale will be a spectacular fireworks display.

 

For the children, there will be a face painter and a balloon artist on hand – not to mention a chance to remember why we celebrate July 4 as there will be a military salute.

 

Admission will remain the same as it is for a regular show at $12 for adults, $11 for senior citizens and $5 for children ages 6-12 with those under 5 free.

 

The gates will open at 4 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.

 

Then three days later, on July 6, a regular show will be held with the Randy Sterling Trucking Late Models, Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub Semi Lates, Harter and Son’s Garage Street Stocks, Quigley’s Pub Pure Stocks and Clearfield County Metals Four Cylinders. What makes the show so unique is the NASCAR veteran Red Farmer will be on hand competing with the regular competitors in the field. He’ll be driving a Luke Hoffner car in the action.

 

Hoffner and Farmer are very good friends and take turns driving each other’s cars. Farmer is 80-years old and he’s still winning races, as a few weeks ago he picked up a heat race win in a Late Model.

 

Then the next big event will be held on July 13, as the Third Annual Connor Bobik Memorial will be held.

 

Connor was the five-year old son of AMP photographer Derek and his wife Diane. In 2010 the child was diagnosed with a rare, fatal form of childhood brain cancer with a survival rate of nine to 10 months. Unfortunately that is all the longer he was able to fight the dreaded disease.

 

Derek Bobik asked Dog Hollow Speedway owner Jim Michny if a memorial race could be held in honor of his son, and Michny said, “Yes” without batting an eye.

 

Unfortunately as the third annual event was approaching, Michny closed the doors at DHS, but before doing that, he checked with Taylor about hosting the race, and Taylor said he’d be happy to.

 

The race will be for the Late Models, it will be 30 laps and will pay $1,500 to win. There will also be a huge crazy auction with a number of items up for grabs. All of the proceeds go to the Make-A-Wish program. The family is raising the money for Make-A Wish because they granted Connor a wish of a trip to Disney.

 

“The trip was truly ‘Magical'”, Derek said. “It allowed us to feel like a family again. The smiles on the faces of our sons Connor and Aidan were priceless.”
