CENTRE COUNTY – The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF1 tornado touched down in Centre County on Thursday.
The tornado was at least one-and-a-half miles long and 75 yards wide. It had winds that reached 100 miles per hour.
A man who witnessed the tornado found metal wrapped around trees at the scene near Boalsburg.
The NWS had issued a tornado warning in that area when the funnel cloud touched down just after 4 p.m. Thursday.
WJAC-TV News is working to gather more information from witnesses and also meeting with a NWS tornado crew.
