“Absolute Faith and Trust in the Lord Meant a Life Well Lived.”
Born: Sept. 7, 1932
Died: June 23, 2013
It is with a mixture of sadness and joy that the family of Hannah Jean Adamson Hipps announces her ascendance to her Heavenly reward on June 23, 2013. She died in Dallas, Texas at Kindred Hospital from complications of cancer.
She was born Sept. 7, 1932 to Robert Cameron and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Haddow Adamson, a native of Scotland.
Lizzie was originally scheduled to sail on the Titanic to America but fortunately missed the ship due to illness. Once in America, Lizzie married Robert Cameron Adamson, settled in Pennsylvania and had 10 children.
Ms. Hipps was their youngest. She graduated from the Clearfield Hospital of Nursing in 1951. Her life’s mission was to serve the Lord by taking care of others.
Since 1993 she had been living in Rowlett, Texas with her daughter, Susan and granddaughter, Kristen, taking care of “her girls.” She loved her family and cherished every moment she could spend with them. She was at her happiest when cooking and caring for them.
Ms. Hipps was known for being a strong woman who had a spunky, unselfish character and above all had absolute faith and trust in the Lord. She was an avid animal lover and will be greatly missed by her loving canine companion, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Elizabeth Jeannie beside whom she will be interred; five brothers, James, George H. “China,” Robert, John and Charles Adamson; and three sisters, Katherine Brown, Margaret Katrosh and Betty Powell.
She’s survived by her brother, Cameron Adamson Sr. and his fiancée, Joan Myers of Clearfield; her children, Edward Scott Hipps Sr. and his wife, Debra, John Robert Hipps and his wife, Eileen and Susan Lea and her husband, Jim Lynch; her grandchildren, Amber Jean Hipps Lakatosh, Edward Scott Jr., Sean Austin Hipps and Kristen Lea Hipps Morgan.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bennett Houser Funeral Home, Clearfield, with the Rev. John F. White officiating. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park.
