Three people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday on the Clearfield – Curwensville Highway in Pike Township. Kyle M. Hoffer, 19, of DuBois was traveling westbound, while Stephen D. Shaffer, 44, of Curwensville was traveling in the opposite direction. Hoffer partially crossed into the eastbound lane.
Both Hoffer and Shaffer tried to avoid impact by steering in a rightward direction. However, their vehicles still collided, which caused the Shaffer vehicle to exit the south berm and overturn several times. The Hoffer vehicle came to a rest in the westbound lane, facing east, while the Shaffer vehicle came to rest along the roadway, facing north.
Hoffer and Shaffer suffered moderate injuries; Shaffer’s passenger had minor injuries. Hoffer will be cited for the accident. State police were assisted by Clearfield Emergency Medical Services, Curwensville Ambulance, the Curwensville Volunteer Fire Department, PennDOT and auto services.
