William Coleman, 84 of Belleview, Fla. and formerly of Houtzdale died Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Ocala Regional Medical Center, Ocala, Fla.
He was born in Osceola Mills on Nov. 23, 1928 to Andrew and Josephine (Nyman) Coleman.
Mr. Coleman served with the U.S. Army as a PFC and squad leader during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 and received three Bronze Stars during his time of service.
He retired from General Cigar Co. in Philipsburg and then went to Dothan, Ala., where he retired in 1992.
He was a member of the Houtzdale American Legion Freeberg Post #591.
Mr. Coleman was married to Doris A (Sharpless) Coleman on Aug. 1, 1955 at Winchester, VA by the Rev. Norman Cooper.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter, William Lee Coleman and his companion, Cathy Cosner of Houtzdale, Scott Coleman and his wife, Lori (Cervenak) of Carlisle and Lisa A. Noel and her companion, Randy Dukeman of Duncansville.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Kelly and her husband, Scott McCoy of Smithmill, Casey Dick and companion, Bruce Nevling of Coalport, Tyler Coleman of Harrisburg, Summer Bennett and her husband, Dustin of Glenn Campbell, Jesse Campbell of Dallas, Shane Davis of Duncansville, Trevor Coleman of Houtzdale, Vanessa and Derrick Coleman of Carlisle and four great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Scotty and Madison McCoy of Smithmill and Collin Nevling of Coalport.
Mr. Coalman is survived by two sisters, Dolly Klett of Osceola Mills and Barbara Daniel of Houtzdale and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Luann Marie Dick and Cindy Jo Coleman; three brothers, Ernest, Andrew and Louis; four sisters, Margaret Henderson, Rose Switala, Josephine Folmar and infant sister, Mary.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home, Houtzdale, with the Rev. Robert Ford officiating.
Burial will follow in the American Legion Cemetery, Brisbin, with graveside honors presented by the Houtzdale American Legion Honor Guard.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from7 p.m. – p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services.
