TIPTON – Children can help solve word mysteries as part of WPSU Kid’s Day at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park this Saturday.
PBS favorite “WordGirl” will be at the park with Buddy Bear from DelGrosso’s Amusement Park, as they hunt to find the right word. Along the way, they will see some of the show’s villains, and children will be asked to help WordGirl save the day.
The first 400 children who sign up at the WPSU tent, also known as City Hall, at the park will be given a newspaper, where they can read all about the things that were done at the park by the villains and how they can help correct them. Children who complete their mission can then receive a free jar of WPSU Kid’s Day Super Hero Sloppy Joe Sauce.
The Altoona Symphony will be performing a cushion concert at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and will be hosting craft workshops in between their performances. Blair County Dairy Royalty will also be at the park for special children’s activities, and “Ike the Spike” from the State College Spikes will be visiting the park as well.
“As a family park, we always want kids to have fun. WPSU Kid’s Day is a day of fun and learning mixed together in a great environment. Where else can you hug a bear (Buddy Bear from DelGrosso’s), take a picture with a Super Hero (WordGirl), crawl into the belly of a “Dizzy Dragon” for a spin and then crawl on a “Wacky Worm” to ride a roller coaster?” said Carl Crider Jr., general manager of DelGrosso’s Amusement Park.
WPSU Kid’s Day is made possible thanks to sponsors: Allied Milk Producers, Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries, The State College Spikes and Alleghenies Unlimited Care Providers. WPSU Kid’s Day runs from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., rain or shine.
DelGrosso’s Amusement Park offers free parking and admission. An All-Day Fun Pass for the rides and the water park is $17.95.
Detour Reminder: Due to bridge construction on Pleasant Valley Boulevard, there isn’t any access to DelGrosso’s Amusement Park from Exit 41. Please remember to use Exit 45 – Tipton/Grazierville.
