CLEARFIELD – On Thursday night, representatives from St. Andrews Episcopal Church, located on the corner of Front and Cherry streets, addressed their concerns to Clearfield Borough Council in-person and through letters regarding the proposed changes in metered parking on a segment of Cherry Street.
Their concern is the loss of public parking in front of the church for services and events if the meters are disabled and the parking designated for firefighters. Chairman Wade Cowder and Fire Chief Todd Kling both assured that the borough and fire department will work with the church in any way they can.
Kling reported he had already talked with church officials and developed a workable arrangement. He said they want to be good neighbors with the church and will cooperate with the church regarding the parking on Cherry Street.
Council approved a motion to remove the meter heads on Cherry Street from Front Street through Van Valzah Avenue to provide the fire department with parking, with the provision of coordinating with St. Andrews for parking for church services and events.
