Clarabelle Miller, 86, of Clearfield died peacefully Monday, June 17, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born Aug. 25, 1926, in Philipsburg. She was the daughter of Paul and Clara (Cowher) Harper.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Stanley P. Miller and a sister, Helen Elizabeth “Eppy” Thompson. She is also survived by her children, Sandra Essner and her husband, Gene, Stanley R. “Rusty” Miller and his wife, Gayle and Betsy Fox.
In addition, she is survived by four grandchildren, Gregory Essner, Dr. Alisha Miller, Kayla and Matthew Fox and two great-grandchildren, Gregory and Emily Essner and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kathy Miller; her parents and step-mother, Dorcas; her brother, Paul Harper; and two sisters, Kathleen Fleckenstein and Bertha Louise Smith.
She was a devoted housewife and mother and helped her husband for many years in their family restaurant. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, quilting, Penn State football and Pittsburgh Steelers football.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Philipsburg and more recently the Christ United Methodist Church in Clearfield, where she taught Sunday school for many years. Clarabelle also recited humorous recitation at various functions.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc. of Clearfield, with the Rev. Penney Rahm officiating. Burial will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of the services Friday at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Clearfield Hospice in their care of Mrs. Miller.
