DUBOIS – Work to improve Route 255 near the Interstate 80 DuBois/101 interchange that began in April is continuing.
When work completes in mid-October, a smoother roadway surface and new traffic signals at the I-80 ramps will provide area drivers with more efficient travel and improved traffic flow.
Work this week will include cutting and patching work on Route 255 starting Monday. Subcontractor Plum Contracting Inc. of Greensburg will begin working on the drainage on the roadway shoulders from Treasure Lake to the Fairfield Inn on Wednesday. The cutting work is expected to wrap up by Friday, while the shoulder drain work will take approximately three weeks.
Subcontractor Kukurin Contracting Inc. of Export will continue drilling and placing a new water line in the area next week.
Motorists can expect to encounter flaggers in the work zone and travel delays. Drivers should give themselves extra time to travel through the area. PennDOT reminds drivers to remain alert and proceed through the work zone with caution.
All work is weather and schedule dependent. Work is scheduled to end by mid-October of this year. New Enterprise Stone and Lime Inc. is the contractor on this $3.4 million project.
