CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Hospital Hospice invites the public to its annual Butterfly Release to be held at 2 p.m. July 28 during Family Day at the Clearfield County Fair.
“Please join us as we release beautiful painted lady butterflies both in memory of loved ones lost and in honor of those who continue to make our lives special,” said Dana Wilson, hospice volunteer coordinator.
Butterflies are available to the public at a cost of $10 per butterfly. People may reserve butterflies by calling Wilson at 814-768-2007.
All proceeds benefit hospice patients and their families, as well as the bereavement program, including the annual Grief Camp for children and teens, which is a free service to anyone in the community who has suffered the loss of a loved one.
Checks should be made payable to “Clearfield Hospice Butterfly Release” and mailed to: Dana Wilson, Clearfield Hospice, P.O. Box 992, Clearfield, PA 16830.
Donors should provide their name, address and phone number and the name of the honoree or memorial. All names will be included in service/programs unless hospice is otherwise notified.
Sponsors should plan to arrive at the Litz Stage located in the grove at the Clearfield Driving Park no later than 1:45 p.m. They will be registered at the release site where a heart-warming ceremony, conducted by the hospice staff, will take place.
“Hospice is about hope and healing the spirit even though the body is too fragile to repair. Butterflies have long been a symbol of hospice, and are symbolic of change and new beginnings,” Wilson said.
The butterflies are provided by Jodi Hopper of “Wish Upon a Butterfly” from New Castle.
