BELLEFONTE – PennDOT’s work to preserve bridges on Interstate 80 in Centre County is winding down, with almost all work now complete.
Since last year, work has taken place on the eastbound and westbound bridges that span Route 26 at the Bellefonte/161 interchange, the bridges spanning Route 1010 (Hubler Ridge Road) at mile-marker 165 and the bridges spanning township Road 476 near mile-marker 167.
This work helps to preservation those six bridges for years to come and extends the serviceable life of each bridge for decades. Three of the six were structurally deficient and this preservation and repair work allows PennDOT to remove those three from Centre County’s list of structurally deficient bridges.
Some I-80 paving work remains. In the near future, crews will be working on pavement repair on I-80 westbound at the Bellefonte/161 interchange. Drivers may find lane restrictions in place during that short-term work.
HRI Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $3.4 million project.
