CLEARFIELD – On behalf of Gov. Tom Corbett, PennDOT has announced that work to replace a bridge on Route 2012 (Douglas Road/Old Station Road) in Clearfield County will get under way on Tuesday. Replacing the bridge will provide area travelers with a smoother, safer ride over a modern structure. The bridge spans Carson Run on Route 2012, in the village of New Millport.
Preliminary work will begin on Tuesday, with overall work including placement of a new box culvert, roadway paving, guide rail updates and drainage improvements. During preliminary work, the bridge will remain open.
PennDOT’s official detour will go into effect in mid-June and will direct drivers around the closure using Routes 729, 3022 (Ansonville Road), and 3007 (Douglas Road). PennDOT’s work schedule currently calls for the closure to last through early September. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
M & B Services of Clarion is the contractor on this $350,000 project. Drivers are reminded to follow official detour signs, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
