CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Revitalization Corp., (CRC) has announced the resignation of Main Street Manager Kellie Swales. The CRC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, which administers the Main Street Program in downtown Clearfield.
“On behalf of the board of directors of the Clearfield Revitalization Corp., we thank Kellie Swales for her service as Main Street Manager and wish her the best in her new position. The CRC looks forward to working with Kellie for a smooth transition and in continuing our partnership with her new employer,” said Dr. Keely Casteel, president of the CRC.
Swales issued the following statement:
“It has been an absolute honor to work for the CRC [over] the past four years. I am forever thankful for this opportunity. I had the pleasure of working with passionate, talented individuals in the community.
“. . . I have worked with people who are so giving, caring and warm-hearted. I have made many friends along the way and will truly miss working with everyone. But [I] plan to stay in touch through volunteering with the CRC.”
Swales said she is proud of the CRC’s accomplishments in down Clearfield. She said the Main Street Program has been nationally-accredited three times. Swales said it’s also rallied groups of all ages from cub scouts to senior citizens.
She thanked Casteel for being her inspiration, as well as for offering her leadership and encouragement. She thanked members of her board and committees for being dedicated and allowing the CRC to achieve great accomplishments. She also thanked local businesses, institutions and community members who have supported the Main Street Program and encouraged them to continue their commitment for the future of the Main Street community of Clearfield.
Swales said over the past four years, the Main Street Program has awarded more than $110,000 to downtown businesses for facade improvement. She said it has also facilitated major downtown events such as the Fall Festival and 5K Pumpkin Run/Walk, Beautification Day, the “Vera Bradley, and What He Wants Badly” event, the “Deer Lovely Ladies” Tour, “Fall in Love” with Clearfield and “The Taste of the Town Spirit” Tour.
She said the CRC has also hosted merchant workshops and partnered with community groups such as the boy scouts, the girl scouts and educational institutes. In 2012, she said the CRC was awarded one of two State Townie Awards for Program-Wide Façade Restoration by the Pennsylvania Downtown Center.
“The CRC strives to inspire, educate, enable and empower our community about revitalization,” said Swales, who will still direct the CRC’s “Anything that Floats” Boat Regatta on June 1, in addition to its summer festival, the Bloom and Berry Bash, on June 22.
She said that Chris Renaud, a recent graduate of Bucknell University, will return to assist the CRC this summer. Renaud has served as an intern over the past two summers. She said the CRC will release information regarding the employment opportunity of the Main Street Manager as soon as possible.
The CRC is dedicated to leading the revitalization of the All-America people, places and spirit of Clearfield. The CRC thanks the community for its continual support of its revitalization efforts. The CRC looks forward to continuing its efforts and being an integral part of the betterment of downtown Clearfield.
