DUBOIS – The Headwaters Conservation Partnership (HCP) has announced that Atlas Resource Partners LP, an E&P (Exploration & Production) subsidiary of Atlas Energy, has again supported the efforts of Headwaters regional conservation efforts.
Atlas, one of Headwaters’ first industry partners, provided a special donation to be used toward the matching funds required for two major Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection grants in the field of acid rain remediation.
HCP Program Director Dale Fox explained, “It was gratifying to have one of our first conservation partners respond immediately with additional funding when we explained the significance of these projects.”
The Atlas Resource Partners donation will be utilized in support of the Clarion River Headwaters and the Smith Run Growing Greener acid rain projects in Elk County that were approved in February by the DEP. The DEP provided $354,000 in grant funding with a required match of $65,000.
“Finding sources of match funding is always a tough job that can make or break a major grant submission. Since we anticipate that the initial DEP funded projects will be followed by many additional acid rain remediation construction projects, the participation of private industry provides us with vital financial flexibility through the use of matching funding on complex water quality efforts such as this,” explained Headwaters Charitable Trust Executive Director Jane French.
The Headwaters Conservation Partnership invites all corporations, small businesses and individuals active in the Headwaters region of Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Jefferson, McKean and Potter counties to join the Conservation Partnership. See www.headwaterspa.org for more information.
