CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Middle School Student Council volunteered with the Clearfield Revitalization Corp.’s Beautification Day on May 18.
Students helped tidy up and mulch the ShawPark in downtown Clearfield. In addition to their service, two contributions were made to the CRC.
The student council donated $200 toward the Beautification Day and upcoming projects, and the CMS matched that donation by dressing casual for cause.
Teachers and administration can dress casually each Friday by contributing to a local charity, in this case, the Clearfield Revitalization Corp., (CRC).
The CRC is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that implements the Main Street Program in Clearfield. The Main Street Program is a volunteer-based revitalization program focusing on promotion and special events, design and beautification, business retention and recruitment, as well as sustainability and organization.
The CRC organizes many events for Clearfield, such as the Fall Festival and 5K Pumpkin Run/Walk, the “Anything that Floats” Boat Regatta and the upcoming summer festival, the Bloom and Berry Bash. The CRC also helps business owners with facade designs and streetscape projects, such as the new banners and American Flags.

On behalf of the Clearfield Middle School Staff Casual for a Cause donation are Karen Ward, student council advisor/learning support teacher, and Andrew Brickley, assistant principal.
Main Street Manager Kellie Swales accepted the contribution on behalf of the CRC.
“[I would like] to thank you for the generous contributions from the student council and teachers from the ClearfieldMiddle School,” said Swales. “The Main Street Program is all about getting people involved to make a difference, and we are flattered to see the kids invest in our program.
“When kids invest in our community, it leaves a lasting impression creating a sense of place in Clearfield. We really enjoyed working together on the beautification day project and look forward to partnering in the future.”
Ward said, “Participating in the Beautification Day was a great project for the kids. It really extended our Middle School motto of ‘Be respectful and be responsible’ by putting those words into action in our community.”
