Detour will be in place
CLEARFIELD – On behalf of Gov. Tom Corbett, PennDOT has announced that work to replace a bridge near West Decatur on Route 2024 (Pleasant Hill Road) will get under way this week. Once work is complete, PennDOT will remove the bridge from the list of structurally deficient bridges in ClearfieldCounty. Replacement will also provide area drivers with safer, more efficient travel across a modern structure.
The bridge spans Little Laurel Run about two miles east of West Decatur. The bridge was built in 1935, is 28 feet long and carries an average of 1,000 vehicles each day. Work will get under way Thursday.
A detour will be used to guide drivers around the construction zone while the new bridge is being built. From Route 2024, PennDOT’s official detour uses Routes 2007 (Morgan Run Road), 2051 (Drane Highway), 2017, and 2019 (Pleasant Hill Road).
Work is expected to last through early September and includes replacement of the old bridge, approach work, paving, guide rail updates, and miscellaneous items. BECDIR Construction Company of Berlin Center, Ohio is the contractor for this $1 million job.
Drivers are reminded to follow detour signage, use caution through all work zones, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
