Margaret Virginia Rebecca Delbrugge, 81, of Clearfield died Friday, May 22, 2013 at her residence. She was the wife of 56 years to the late Gerald V. “Jerry” Delbrugge from Sept. 23, 1951 until his death in Oct. 23, 2007.
Born June 9, 1931 in Cedartown, GA, she was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Margaret J. (Stroup) Rowell.
Mrs. Delbrugge was of the Catholic faith. She was formally trained and certified in dietary services and became food service supervisor at HutchesonMemorialHospital in Fort Ogelthrope, GA. She worked at that position until becoming a mother.
After several years as a full-time housewife, she balanced several part-time jobs with domestic duties. She participated in outdoor activities, including fishing and gardening. Indoor interests were baking, particularly with foods she had grown or harvested from the wild, and she practiced a variety of knitting techniques.
Surviving are a son, Gerald Vincent Delbrugge Jr. of Indiana; two grandchildren, Eric Anthony Delbrugge and Madison McKenzie Delbrugge; and a special friend and caregiver, Maggie “Muggs” Knepp of Woodland.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; eight brothers, Edward, Horace, Charlie, Winford, Lewis, twins C.J. and J.C., and Monroe and a sister, Lollie.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Margaret Virginia Rebecca Delbrugge will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bennett & Houser Funeral Home, Clearfield, with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee officiating. A time to share memories and have an opportunity to view will from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in CrownCrestMemorial Park, Hyde.
