Margaret L. ‘Peggy’ Schenk, 80, of Woodland went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at her home. She was born April 4, 1933, a daughter of the late Edward and Pansy Irene (Peters) Duke.
Mrs. Schenk retired from the ClearfieldAreaSchool District, where she was a substitute cafeteria worker for 15 years. Previously, she worked for the Clearfield Cheese Co., Curwensville.
She attended the LakeStreetUnitedMethodistChurch, Woodland, where she was a member of the church choir and the Bonne Amie Sunday School Class. She also helped with the Junior Youth Fellowship Program and VacationBibleSchool at the church, as well as volunteered with the Jack Wood’s group that held church services and visited residents at Mountain Laurel Nursing and RehabilitationCenter, Clearfield.
Mrs. Schenk volunteered for the Blood Mobile held at LakeStreetChurch and also helped with the Good News Club, which she often hosted in her home.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary E. Smith and her husband, Mel of Clearfield and two sons, John W. Schenk Jr. and his wife, Carolyn of Clearfield and Burton D. Schenk of Woodland.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Christy Schenk Kunkle and her husband, Andy and Megan Schenk Bechtold and her husband, Forrest, both of Charlotte, NC, Katie Ausel Penoyer and her husband, Brad, Lynn Smith and companion Jennifer Johnson, Jacob Peters and companion, Gina DeSantis and Vicki Blowers Barger and her husband, Matt, all of Clearfield, Evan Schenk of Woodland, Melanie Smith and her husband, Earl of Roanoke, VA, Amy Royer of South Carolina, Randy Royer of Grampian, Raymond Blowers Nestlerode and companion, Amber Johnston of Hyde and David Blowers III, whom Peggy raised, and his companion, Shawna Guelich of Curwensville.
Also surviving are 17 great-grandchildren, Nathan Arnold, Ben Leighow, Addison and Avanelle Penoyer, Brittany and Nicholas Blowers, Evelyn ‘Evvy’ Smith; Alicia, Breanna, Braden and Jena Royer; Damon, Arian Rose, Devon and Trent Haney, C.J. Blowers and Larry Haversack III.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband for 41 years, John W. Schenk Sr. on Dec. 7, 2010 and whom she wed July 12, 1969 in Woodland.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Edwin G. ‘Sonny’ Blowers; a son David Blowers; and a brother and sister, Raymond Edward Duke and Nettie Woodson.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the LakeStreetUnitedMethodistChurch, Woodland, with Pastor Sean Patrick Smith officiating. Burial will be in the BradfordCemetery, Woodland at the convenience of the family.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Lake Street United Methodist Church Music Fund, 115 Lake St., Woodland.
