James E. Kilmer, 88, Sabula, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.
Born Jan. 5, 1925, he was a son of the late Charles and Blanche Beer Kilmer.
He married Martha Muth Kilmer June 21, 1947. She preceded him in death in 1989.
James was a farmer, a bus driver owner and a heavy equipment operator in construction. He was a graduate of Sandy High School. He attended Emmanuel Boone Mt. Church in Sabula.
He was a member of DuBois Lions Club, Hickory Grange, Civil Air Patrol, PA Wildlife Habitat Unlimited and Allegheny Indians Camper Club. James was a private pilot, an avid hunter, fisherman and traveler.
James is survived by his fiancée, Cleora Bolam of Sabula; four children: Mrs. James (Phoebe) Strobel of Erie, Galen (Laura) Kilmer of Sabula, Michael (Joan) Kilmer of Treasure Lake and Miles (Donna) Kilmer of DuBois; two brothers, George “Bill” Kilmer of Bellefonte and Ivan (Edith) Kilmer of Sabula; one sister, Mrs. Harold (Alice Mae) Muth of Troutville; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Jane Pentz.
Public visiting will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at The Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Harry “Mick” Ent and the Rev. Marsha Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery, DuBois. Memorial donations may be made to Hickory Grange or a charity of the donor’s choice.
