Nancy McGary, 77, of Curwensville and formerly of Philipsburg, died Monday, April 29, 2013 in the presence of her loving husband, John.
She was born Nov. 29, 1935 in Hepburnia, a daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Pentz) McCracken.
Mrs. McGary was a homemaker who took great pride in raising her four boys. After her children were grown, she was employed as a home health aide, serving many local communities.
She loved to go on fishing trips to Canada with her family. She was most proud of her grandchildren, cherishing the time spent with them from taking them shopping or going to camp.
Mrs. McGary attended the First Baptist Church, Curwensville.
She is survived by her husband, John A. McGary, whom she wed Aug. 27, 1954 in Hepburnia and four sons, John McGary and his wife, Sandy of Curwensville, Marty McGary and his wife, Donna of Grampian and Scott McGary and Cory D. McGary, both of Muncy.
Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Bart, Ben and Boone McGary, Adam McGary and his wife, Justine, Abby Stiles and her husband, Colt, Justin McGary, Nate McGary and his wife, Kim, Andrew McGary and his wife, Ashley, Katie Anne, Nicholas and Patrick Ulysses McGary; three great-grandchildren, Iree and Shane Stiles and Kael McGary; a sister and four brothers, Carla Sork of Indianapolis, IN, Charles McCracken and his wife, Mary Lou of Curwensville and Sam McCracken and his wife, Nancy, Joe McCracken and his wife Dorothy and Dale McCracken, all of Grampian; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother, Esther Lucas, Eva Reyburn and David McCracken.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, Curwensville, with the Rev. Daniel M. Osterhout officiating. Burial will follow in the Lumber City Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville, and from 9 a.m. until the hour of services Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Curwensville First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 312, Curwensville.
