Raymond “Spike” Spicher, 85 of DuBois died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at his residence. Born April 27, 1928 in Rockton, he was the son of the late Lester N. and Leona Spicher.
On Dec. 31, 1949, he married Claribel (Kuntz) Spicher. She survives.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and served in World War II. He was employed by the Penn Traffic Riverside Division of DuBois, Owens Brockway and the DuBois Area School District.
He was a member of the Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ, where he served as deacon and elder for many years.
He is survived by two sons, Ronald W. Spicher and his wife, Cheryl of DuBois and Dennis R. Spicher and his wife, Louise of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren, Luke Spicher of Nahunta, GA, Lindsay Campbell of St. Augustine, FL, Lt. Stephen Spicher, USMC of Camp Lejeune, NC, Kathryn Spicher of New York, NY and Andrew, Christian and Nicholas Spicher, all of Atlanta, GA
He is also survived by four sisters, Mildred Dillingham and her husband, Burt of East Earl, Carol Brubaker and her husband, Edwin of Rockton and Marilyn Sayers and Mary Lou Miller and her husband. Bob, both of DuBois, two brothers, Kenneth Spicher and his wife, Virginia of DuBois and Allen Spicher of Big Soldier and sisters-in-law, Geraldine Spicher of Rockton and Anna Spicher of Manassas, VA.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Miriam Kirk, two brothers, Donald Spicher and William Robert Spicher, sisters-in-law, Judy Spicher and Shirley Spicher and infant grandson, Jonathan Spicher.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Monday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home Inc.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ with Pastor Barry Fillman and Pastor Sally Lydic co-officiating.
Burial will follow in Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
