CLEARFIELD – The Mid-State Literacy Council is inviting individuals who would like to consider volunteering as literacy tutors to participate in an introductory training session.
No experience is necessary and everyone is welcome to attend. Tutors help adult learners to reach their literacy goals by working on basic reading, writing, and math skills together. The training will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. May 1 in the conference room of Shaw Public Library, 1 S. Front St., Clearfield.
After training, tutors are matched with an adult student and meet weekly at a mutually convenient time and place for one-and-a-half to two hours. Materials and support are provided.
If you are interested in becoming involved in this rewarding way to help someone attain needed skills and achieve greater independence and confidence, please contact Mid-State Literacy Council at 814-238-1809 or email trothmslc@gmail.com.
