Charles J. McKivison, 81, of Philipsburg died Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at the Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.
He was the son of the late John Thomas and Lyda (Harshberger) McKivison, born April 25, 1931 in Port Matilda. He married the former Anna Whiteman Bechtol, who preceded him in death Aug. 1, 1979.
Mr. McKivison was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5020 in Osceola Mills; the American Legion Post 536 of Port Matilda; the AMVETS Post 159 and the B.P.O. Elks # 1173, both of Philipsburg.
Mr. McKivison was a retired tech sergeant with the U.S. Air Force and had also been employed with HRB Singer of State College as a security guard until retiring in 1986. He was a 1948 graduate of the Worth Township High School in Port Matilda.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Arthur Kelly.
He is survived by two step-daughters, June Maney and Kaye Fetters, both of Port Matilda; a step-son, Steven Bechtol of Port Matilda; a sister, Janet Kelly of Port Matilda; two brothers, James McKivison and Thomas McKivison, both of State College; six step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. He’s also survived by his very close friend, Laverne Fetcenko of Philipsburg and by three nieces and three nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 E. Spruce St., Philipsburg, PA. Burial will be at the Black Oak Cemetery in Port Matilda.
Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the Osceola Mills Honor Guard.
