CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of April 15.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Jarred David Peters, 21, of South Sixth Street, Clearfield. Peters is wanted for failure to appear at a preliminary hearing April 10.
On Feb. 25, Patrolman Joseph Witherite of the Clearfield Borough Police Department filed a criminal complaint, charging Peters with forgery, theft by deception, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Witherite states that on Jan. 20, the Clearfield Borough Police Department received a report of a theft of money orders. Upon investigation, it was found that Peters had taken possession of two of the victim’s money orders and had forged his name on the money orders. Peters then cashed the two money orders and retained all of the money.
On April 10, Peters failed to appear for a preliminary hearing and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Peters is described as a Caucasian male, standing 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He has blue eyes and brown hair.
Anyone with knowledge of Peters’ location is asked to call Clearfield County Crime Stoppers at 800-376-4700. All calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential.
