Jerome P Thompson, 64 of Houtzdale died Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at his residence. Born April 27, 1948 in Philipsburg, he was a son of Willard and Anna Leskovansky Thompson.
He was member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, a member and treasurer of the Knights of Columbus Our Lady of the Valley Council No. 10376, Pope John Paul II Fourth Degree Assembly No. 952, Clearfield, the Houtzdale Loyal Order of Moose, president of the Houtzdale Fire Co. #1 and a member of the Houtzdale Fire Police.
He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement.
On Aug. 10, 1984 in Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, he married the former Dorothy Miscavish, who survives at home.
He’s survived by a son, Scott Miscavish and his wife, Stephanie and a granddaughter, Madison Miscavish of Houtzdale.
Also surviving are three brothers, Edward Thompson and his wife, Debbie, Eugene Thompson and his wife, Supah and David Thompson and his wife, Mary Ellen, all of Houtzdale; a sister, Jeanette Read and her husband, Rodger of Clearfield; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Houtzdale, with Father Stanley Swacha as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Lawrence Cemetery, Houtzdale.
Friends will be received 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Friday at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc., Houtzdale.
The Altar and Rosary Society will recite the Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The Houtzdale Fire Co. will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. and Pope John Paul II Fourth Degree Assembly and the Knights of Columbus Our Lady of the Valley Council will hold a prayer service at 8:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
