WILLIAMSPORT — Senior Holly Lansberry (Curwensville) continued to make her mark in the Lycoming history book last week, both with her bat and her right arm.
She singled in all six games to become only the second Warrior to own two 10-game hitting streaks in a career and started three games in the circle to move into second place on the all-time list with 60 in her four seasons. She’s just one start behind record-holder Mary Beth Schwindenhammer (1994-97).
Lansberry, who tied the school record with a 17-game hitting streak last year, joins Susan Leuthner (1994-97) in the elite batting category. Leuthner had three streaks of 10 or more games.
Lansberry was 7-for-19 in the 2-4 week for the Warriors to lift her batting average from .270 to .304, second on the team. She also had a stolen base in each of Lycoming’s 3-1 and 5-1 non-conference wins over Wilkes on Wednesday.
Lansberry pitched three complete games, beating Wilkes in the opener with a seven-hitter highlighted by eight strikeouts but losing 1-0 to Arcadia Saturday at Glenside and 4-0 Sunday to Widener at the Shangraw Athletic Complex in Commonwealth Conference action.
She hurled six-hitters in both losses.
Lansberry is 4-4 with a 2.29 earned run average, fourth best in the conference, for nine starts in 12 appearances. Her 48 strikeouts in 52 innings rank fourth in the conference.
She has walked 14 and allowed 54 hits and 27 runs, with 17 earned.
Lycoming, swept by Arcadia and Widener, is 1-7 in the conference and ended the week 10-10 overall.

BASEBALL
ERIE — Senior starter Mike Moyer (Clearfield) registered his third win with his first complete game of the season while junior closer Chad Zurat (Clearfield) recorded a win and a save during Penn State Behrend’s sweep of three Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference twinbills last week for an eight-game winning streak.
Moyer stretched his string of scoreless innings to 12-2/3 before Penn State Altoona tallied a run in the second inning of Saturday’s nightcap. He then blanked the hosts until the seventh frame of a 10-3 victory.
The right-hander struck out four, walked four and gave up eight hits.
Moyer is tied for sixth in the AMCC in wins with three and sports a 1.50 earned run average that would rank third in the conference if he had enough innings to qualify for the leader list. In 18 innings, he’s logged 16 strikeouts, issued eight walks and surrendered 15 hits.
Zurat earned his third save with 1-1/3 scoreless innings and one strikeout in the 5-1 first game at Altoona.
His win resulted from blanking host Pitt-Bradford Sunday for 2-1/3 innings, the longest stint of his eight appearances this season.
Zurat (2-1) entered the game in the bottom of the sixth with runners at the corners in a 4-4 tie. He proceeded to strike out the first Panther he faced and then added two strikeouts with the bases loaded in the seventh and three strikeouts after the Lions scored the winning run in the top of the eighth.
AMCC stats show Zurat second in saves and games finished (7) and third in appearances and games in relief (8).
He has 18 strikeouts and six walks in 13 innings with a 3.64 earned run average.
Penn State Lions (15-5) sits atop the AMCC at 6-0.

CLARION — Sophomore Brett Sutika (Grampian/Curwensville Area High School) stroked three singles and drove in one run in three starts for Clarion, which came up empty in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference road doubleheaders against California Friday and Saturday.
He has four hits and a .148 average for 11 games.
Sophomore Derek Danver (Clearfield) appeared in two games and had one single, giving him 11 hits and a .244 average that is fourth highest on a 1-21 team that is hitting just .204.
Danver, who has started in 17 of the 18 games he’s played, has two doubles and the Golden Eagles’ only home run for a team-best .356 slugging average.
Junior pitcher Ben McGary (Curwensville) suffered his fifth loss in his sixth start. The Vulcans socked 12 hits and scored seven runs in his 4-1/3-inning stint on the way to a 9-2 win Saturday.
The left-hander owns the Golden Eagles’ lone win and leads them in complete games (3), innings pitched (31.1) and strikeouts (18). He allowed 34 hits and 23 runs, 20 of them earned.
Clarion is 1-11 in the PSAC-West.

BRADFORD — Junior outfielder Sam Gardner (Curwensville) had hits in three of the four games he played for Pitt-Bradford (6-10) last week to raise his batting average from .273 to .286.
After sweeping Medaille (N.Y.) 1-0 and 5-4 in eight innings Friday, the Panthers lost 8-3 and 5-4 in eight innings to Penn State Behrend Sunday for a 2-2 start in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference.
In 10 games, seven as a starter, Gardner is 6-for-21 with two doubles and two runs scored.

MEN’S GYMNASTICS
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Senior Scott Rosenthal (Clearfield) was fourth for the Penn State still rings entries and placed eighth overall with a 15.000 routine in the Big 10 Championships at Minnesota’s Sports Pavilion Friday night.
The Nittany Lions, who were undefeated in dual meets, took top honors in that event with a 74.700 total but had to settle for second place behind Michigan (438.900) with their 434.050 aggregate.
For the second straight year, Rosenthal was Penn State’s recipient of a Big 10 Conference sportsmanship award.
Penn State will host the NCAA Championships in Rec Hall April 19-21.
