HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Association of Travel and Tourism (PATT), is hosting a statewide travel and tourism summit on May 6-8 at the Hilton, Harrisburg.
An annual gathering of the state’s travel and tourism industry, the event will include representatives of every facet of state travel and tourism, including convention and visitors bureaus, museums, wineries, golf courses, hotels, attractions, suppliers and many other tourism partners largely made up of small businesses.
Tourism is a critical partner in the state’s efforts to bring jobs and economic development to Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania tourism accounts for more than 461,000 jobs in the Commonwealth. In 2011, Pennsylvania tourists spent more than $37.2 billion generating more than $3.8 billion in state and local tax revenues. This tax revenue supports public education and other critical state priorities. On average, one out of every 16 workers in Pennsylvania is supported by travel and tourism.
The theme for this third annual event is “Together for Tourism.”
“The goal of the summit is to bring together many industry partners to explore ways to work more collaboratively toward a stronger voice with our Governor and state legislators,” said Rob Fulton, PATT president.
The highlight of the summit occurs May 6, as industry representatives along with iconic Pennsylvania characters employed by this vital state industry visit the state Capitol, where they will meet with their elected state officials to talk about the importance of our critical industry to Pennsylvania.
The summit will be highlighting the jobs and economic impact that is produced throughout the travel and tourism industry.
