DECATUR TOWNSHIP – The Clearfield-based state police have identified the motorcyclist who was killed in a fatal accident at 9:45 a.m. Monday on U.S. Route 322 near the American Diner in Decatur Township.
The man has been identified as Harry A. Lego, 59, of Philipsburg. He died as a result of head trauma. Lego was wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time of the accident.
According to the report, Kasper Anthony, 84, of Wellsville, NY was traveling westbound and turned left across the eastbound lane. He turned directly in front of the motorcycle operated by Lego.
Lego applied his front brakes to avoid a collision, at which point he was ejected from his motorcycle. His motorcycle then collided with the right, rear portion of the Casper vehicle, state police said.
Neither Anthony nor his passenger, Janet J. McGirk, of Osceola Mills was injured. Both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
State police were assisted by the Moshannon Valley Emergency Medical Services, the Hope Valley Fire Company, PennDOT and towing services.
