CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced Clearfield County’s Fugitive of the Week for the week of April 8. Shaw identified the fugitive as Steven Jeffrey Riley, 34, of Pittsburgh. Riley is wanted in two separate cases for failure to appear at preliminary hearings on April 5.
On Feb. 26, Officer Stephen Bilunka of the Sandy Township Police Department filed a criminal complaint, charging Riley with retail theft and criminal conspiracy. An affidavit of probable cause filed by Bilunka states that on Feb. 16, the Sandy Township Police Department received a report of a theft from a business located on Industrial Drive in Sandy Township.
Upon investigation, it was found that on the date of the incident another individual was distracting store employees by dropping several one dollar bills and 20-dollar bills on the floor of the store, and was causing a scene with other customers. While the other individual was causing the distraction, Riley had stolen food and merchandise valued at approximately $224.17 from the store.
In a separate case, Bilunka filed a criminal complaint on March 5, charging Riley with retail theft and criminal conspiracy. An affidavit of probable cause filed by Bilunka states that on Feb. 21, the Sandy Township police received a report of a theft from a business located on Industrial Drive in Sandy Township. Upon investigation, it was found that Riley and another individual had stolen merchandise from the store.
On April 5, Riley failed to appear for preliminary hearings for both cases and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Riley is described as a Caucasian male who stands 5 feet, 11 inches tall. He’s bald with blue eyes.
