Mildred I. Marcinko, 88, of Lanse died Sunday, March 7, 2013 at the Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg. Born Dec. 24, 1924 in Munson, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Daisy Belle Davis Shaw.
Mrs. Marcinko was a member of the St. Severin Roman Catholic Church, Drifting. She was a member of the church choir, Ministers of Care and a former Eucharistic Minister of St. Severin.
She was a graduate of the Morris Township High School and formerly employed by the McCrory’s Store in Philipsburg for 25 years.
She was married to George J. Marcinko on July 26, 1947. He preceded her in death on Feb. 23, 1982.
Mrs. Marcinko is survived by a daughter, Georgene and her husband, Neil of Bellefonte and a son, Martin Marcinko and his wife, Sheryl of Rattlesnake Mountain. Also surviving are grandchildren, Rebecca Heller and her husband, Chris and Lora Fasy and her husband, Shane, all of Perkasie, Jenna Palmateer and her husband, Albert of Harrisburg and Tyler Marcinko of Tarrytown, NY, and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Gruendler and Jean Nelson and one granddaughter, Jennifer Shaw. She was the last of her generation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Severin Roman Catholic Church, Drifting, with the Father David A. Perry Jr. as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Severin Roman Catholic Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Strange & Weaver Funeral Service, Morrisdale. The Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
