Clifford L. Tobias, 95, of Madera died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Mountain Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield. He was born Dec. 9, 1917 at Erhard, a son the late Ellery and Alice (Paterson) Tobias.
Mr. Tobias was a 1937 graduate of the former Madera High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a parishioner of the Fruit Hill Presbyterian Church, where he served as a former elder.
He was the owner and operator of Tobias’ Garage in Erhard from 1953 until 1995. He was also a school bus contractor for the Clearfield School District for 28 years.
Mr. Tobias was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 480, Curwensville; the Coudersport Consistory and of the former Madera VFW. He was a past Knox Township Supervisor and a past Knox Township Secretary/Treasurer. He was secretary of the Fruit Hill Cemetery
Association for many years and was instrumental in the construction of the cemetery chapel.
On Nov. 22, 1945 at Cleveland OH, he married Betty W. (Brothers) Tobias, who survives of Clearfield. He is also survived by a number of cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bert Tobias.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Kruise Funeral Home Inc., Madera.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Commissioned Lay Pastor Leanne M. Gill Peters officiating.
Burial will be in the Fruit Hill Cemetery, Ansonville.
