PennDOT Announces 22 Winners of Aviation Art Contest

HARRISBURG – Twenty-two students from across the state have been selected as division winners in the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s aviation art contest. The contest theme was “50 Years of American Space Flight.”

“I’m always impressed to see how students show the world of flight through their eyes with such skill and creativity in this contest,” PennDOT Secretary Barry J. Schoch said. “With more than 300 total submissions, the winners should be very proud of their work and this accomplishment. The students, parents and teachers involved in this year’s contest have my thanks for making it such a success.”

Entries were judged in two divisions: first through third grades, and fourth and fifth grades. One winner was chosen from each division in each of PennDOT’s 11 district offices.

Winners will receive an enlarged copy of their entry and a certificate signed by Schoch. The students’ schools will also receive a mounted copy of the artwork for display.
