WORTH TOWNSHIP – No injuries were reported after a three-vehicle accident that occurred shortly after 5 p.m. Friday on the Port Matilda Highway in Worth Township, according to the Philipsburg-based state police.
Jerry T. Thompson, 48, of Curwensville was traveling in the right-hand lane about a half-mile west of Interstate 99. Travis L. Houston, 26, of Julian had stopped on the right side of the roadway to secure a load on his vehicle’s roof. Thompson rear-ended the Houston vehicle, causing it to strike the guiderail.
The Thompson vehicle continued westbound by overturning and impacting the guiderail three times. After the Houston vehicle had been impacted, its rear driver’s side traveled into the right-hand lane, where a vehicle operated by John P. Jones, 32, of Port Matilda impacted its tire.
No injuries were reported at the scene by the operators. All three operators were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. Thompson will be cited for the accident, state police said. State police were assisted at the scene by PennDOT.
